About the Competition
The Leadership Competition by the Harvard MUN Team is an online competition over the course of three weekends. Students will have the opportunity to learn about leadership skills from a team of Harvard student mentors, and then apply those skills over the course of two competition rounds. The select students will develop a project proposal, explaining how they can use their leadership skills to benefit their community.

'Innovate for Impact' Challenge
Identify a pressing problem or issue within your community or society and develop innovative solutions that can bring about positive and transformative change. Think creatively, explore new technologies, and propose novel approaches to address the identified challenge. The focus will be on generating ideas and solutions that have the potential to make a lasting impact.
'Embrace Diversity' Challenge
Promote inclusion and celebrate diversity within communities. Explore and understand the unique backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives of individuals from different walks of life. Design initiatives or projects that foster inclusivity, promote equality, and create a sense of belonging for all community members.
'Crisis Response and Resilience' Challenge
Equip individuals and communities with the skills and strategies needed to effectively respond to and recover from various crises, be it natural disasters, pandemics, or socio-economic challenges. Develop comprehensive plans and frameworks that enhance community resilience, minimize the impact of crises, and facilitate swift recovery.

Webinars
Students will attend two webinars on leadership, focusing on decision-making skills necessary for effective leadership. Students will also learn about impact challenges and leadership competitions to prepare them for the second half of the program.
Webinar 1: Leadership skills: Communication, strategy, creativity
Webinar 2: Competition Preparation
At the end of the webinars, the groups for the Impact Challenge will be assigned and the format of the Challenge will be explained. A rubric will be provided to students at this time, although the actual prompt will be released the following Saturday.

Impact Challenge
Timings: 8 AM-12 PM ET
The Impact Challenge prompt will pose a fictional problem to the students based on real world issues and ask them to create an innovative solution in groups.
8 AM: Prompt will be released at 8AM ET, alongside group assignments.
9AM-12 PM ET (Office hours): Each group is expected to submit a maximum three page write-up identifying how they have responded to the problems identified in the prompt.

Leadership Proposal Start
Finalists will meet for a short session with mentors to ask any questions of the Harvard MUN Team. The Leadership Proposal will require finalist students to develop a project proposal that responds to a real world issue facing their community, identifying the issue as well as their potential solution.

Leadership Proposal
Finalists will have Monday through Friday to develop a proposal integrating the skills taught in the webinars and tested in the impact challenge. Throughout the final week, office hours with Harvard student mentors will be available for students looking for feedback or help with their leadership proposal.
Leadership Proposal Presentations
Finalists will present their proposals before a panel of judges, all of whom are on the Harvard MUN Team.
Winners will be announced Saturday evening.
