What Is HMC MUN

The HMC MUN is an immersive 2-day simulation exercise for high-school students bringing together aspiring leaders and experts from across the board for an unparalleled dive into the world of international relations and global policy making.

Delegates work with mentors from Harvard Model Congress (HMC) to deepen their understanding of the dynamics of international relations while learning to debate, negotiate and create solutions to the most pressing global challenges of today.

6:30am - 7:00am: Opening Ceremonies

In this ceremony we will introduce you to the rules of our conference as well as the HMC staff who will guide you through debate and resolution drafting throughout the weekend.

7:00am – 9:00am: Committee Session I

In this first committee session you will begin opening debates, craft a general speakers list, and start some moderated caucuses on the assigned briefing topics for your committee.

9:00am – 9:30am: BREAK

A short break to get a small snack and take a break from ZOOM.

9:30am – 11:15 am: Committee Session II

In this second committee session you will begin unmoderated caucuses and start drafting your resolutions in blocks. Your Harvard student moderators will be there to provide feedback on your work and guide you through the process

11:15am – 11:30 am: Committee Bonding

A short break to do some fun group building activities to allow you to make cross-cultural connections with other delegates from around the world and prepare to work even more effectively on the next day of the conference.

6:30am – 8:00am: Committee Session III

In this first session of the second day we will pick up right where we left off and begin debating the resolutions!

8:00am – 8:30am: BREAK

Another short break to get a small snack and take a break from ZOOM.

8:30am – 10:00am: Committee Session IV

In this final committee session we will wrap up by attempting to amend and pass as many of the resolutions as possible.

10:00am – 11:00am: Harvard Admissions Panel

A panel presentation by Harvard Undergraduate students. The panel will show a short presentation about Harvard and general admissions to universities in the United States followed by a Q&A with the panelists.

11:00am – 11:30am: Closing Ceremonies

At closing ceremonies we will recap the events of the conference and present awards to the “best-delegates” from each committee whose debate and resolutions shined about the rest!
